IPTT: Cisco IP Telephony Troubleshooting v4.0

Course length: 5 Days | Tuition: $3195.00

Techniques, tools, and tips to successfully troubleshoot CallManager, Unity, and IP network deployments.
In this Authorized Cisco course, get the knowledge and skills required to troubleshoot Enterprise CallManager, Unity, and IP network deployments. You'll begin by learning a systematic approach to troubleshooting AVVID networks and reviewing CallManager signaling protocols, and you'll continue with topics such as dial plans, E911 implementation, internal service tools, and command line interface tools. You'll cover external tools, troubleshoot gateway problems with routers and switches, and look at Call Detail Records and the administrative reporting tool. Finish up by troubleshooting voice over IP quality and Unity problems.

This is a unique, real-world IPTT lab environment that teaches you how to troubleshoot a sophisticated IP telephony network based on best practice recommendations for a real deployment. We have set ourselves apart from other Cisco training providers by enhancing our IPTT hands-on labs to include a real dial plan, the latest recommendations for Class of Service for calling out to the PSTN, branch offices, PBXs, and fault-tolerant gatekeeper and directory gatekeeper deployments.

Voice network labs use the latest hardware and software.

  • Troubleshoot Cisco's new ISR routers: 2811s are used throughout the network
  • Gain experience with recent stable IOS release: 12.3.14T3
  • Configure CallManager 4.1.3
  • Explore router DSP configuration: PVDM2-32 cards in every 2811 router
  • Every router has 2xFXS, 2xFXO, and 2xT1 ports (PRI and T1-CAS) as well as serial ports for WAN connectivity
  • All of the latest tools are deployed on the laptops for analyzing traces
  • All laptops have sniffers installed

All IP telephony courses provide a simulated PSTN.

  • Deploy Cisco CallManager 4.1.3sr1
  • Every pod has internal and external phones
  • Build and test a real dial plan including:
    • 911
    • 3-digit service codes: 411, 511, etc.
    • 7-digit local numbers: 681-1901
    • 10-digit local numbers: 416-681-1901
    • 11-digit long distance numbers: 1-733-802-1901
    • International numbers: 011441902

And just like in a real network:

  • The same simulated PSTN is accessible through both PRI and FXO ports
  • The same simulated PSTN is accessible through all four clusters providing failover scenarios for bandwidth and connectivity problems
  • Different area codes are deployed at all sites (two per cluster)

You will troubleshoot a network with the following features:

  • Four CallManager clusters deployed: two students are responsible for each cluster
  • Each cluster has a Headquarters (HQ) and Branch router in different area codes
  • The Headquarters router is MGCP controlled
  • The Branch router is H.323 controlled
  • Both HQ and Branch have 2 PBXs attached via T1-CAS
  • Clusters are connected via gatekeeper controlled ICTs
  • Gatekeeper clusters and fault tolerant directory gatekeepers are deployed
  • SRST is fully deployed on all routers
  • COR is fully deployed on all routers
  • Hardware and software resources are deployed for conferencing
  • Transcoding resources are deployed

What You'll Learn
