Course Description

Learn to prepare AIX, install PowerHA version 5.5, and perform basic fallover testing on an IBM power server running AIX 5L V5.3 or V6.1

Audience

This intermediate course is intended for AIX technical support personnel and AIX system administrators who have the responsibility to implement a PowerHA (HACMP) environment.

Prerequisites

You are expected to have TCP/ IP, LVM storage and disk hardware implementation skills. These skills may be obtained by attending:

  • AIX System Administration II: Problem Determination (AU160) or
  • AIX Problem Determination II: LVM Issues - Instructor-led Online (AT660)
  • AIX TCP/IP and Network Services: Configuration (AU070)

or can be obtained through equivalent education and experience.

Course Objectives

  • Describe the capabilities of PowerHA for AIX 5L
  • Describe the requirements to put an application under the control of PowerHA 5.5
  • List the AIX and PowerHA filesets required to Install PowerHA
  • Verify an installation and perform basic cluster fallover testing

  • Unit 5- Installing PowerHA
  • Exercise 4- Configuring Networking for PowerHA
  • Exercise 5 - Using the 2-node assist
