Course Objectives

This course provides an overview of the new and enhanced features of NetBackup 6.0. Specifically, you learn to:

Determine if a system will support NBU 6.0.
Perform a clean installation of NBU 6.0.
Perform an upgrade from NBU 5.x to NBU 6.0.
Determine if the license keys support selected features.
Configure a policy to use a frequency-based schedule.
Use the new policy parameters to set job retry and restore priority parameters.
Given a NBU domain, determine which processes/services should be running.
Configure robust logging.
Use the vxlogview to view messages for selected NBU 6.0 features.
Describe the changed TapeAlert behavior.
Launch the device qualification tool suite.
List and describe the supported disk storage units.
Perform a backup to a disk storage unit.
Explain the new features for VxFS.
Determine the best NetBackup Operations Manager (NOM) deployment model.
Install NOM.
Use NOM to perform common NBU tasks.
Determine is a specific Option or Agent feature will benefit your backup environment.
Describe the new NDMP features.
